Preview changes
Click through a change at a temporary Pro URL before it goes live.
A preview deploy trials a change at a temporary URL before it goes live. Your live app stays untouched until you approve. Previews need Pro.
- Ask your agent to trial the change as a preview.
- Open the preview link (it looks like
<slug>--preview.outer.now) and click through it. - Tell your agent to ship it or throw it away.
What a preview is
- The preview runs the same pipeline as a live deploy, including the moderation gate.
- It starts with empty data: anything the preview writes never touches live data, and shipping it ships code only.
- An unlisted app’s preview stays unlisted too.
- One preview exists per app at a time. A new preview refreshes it.
- A preview with no visits for 24 hours is discarded on its own.
Rules that carry over
- A preview trial counts as a code change. Shipping it does not.
- Shipping needs a clean line: when live moved on after the preview branched, your agent discards and re-trials first.
- The host holds at most 20 previews (
OUTER_PREVIEW_MAX). Past that, ask your agent to discard an idle one or wait.
In the Console, the Deploys view shows the active preview with Promote and Discard buttons. How previews work under the hood: Trial changes with preview deploys.
