An app with a database gets a daily dump automatically once it has been active in the prior 24 hours. Dumps are full `.sql` exports, stored aside from your app's files. They keep 7 days, or 30 on [Pro](/account/plans).

## How to manage backups

1. Open your app in the [Console](/get-started/console-tour).
2. Go to **Data → D1 → Backups**.
3. Use **Back up now** for an on-demand dump, **Download** to save one as `.sql`, or **Restore** to replace the live tables with a dump.

Restore takes a fresh backup first, behind a confirmation naming that backup. A bad restore stays restorable.
